The Coron Initiative Capacity Building Series (TCI CB Series) II was held last July 1-2, 2013, entitled “Green Leaders Forum – Train the trainers Conference Workshop” where public and private stakeholders were exhorted to learn and lead on the following topics with the distinguished Guest Experts & Resource Persons.
“Sustainable Hotels/Resorts Design, Architecture, Interiors & Landscape” by PJ Arañador, International Lifestyle DesignerSocial Entrepreneur, Green and Ethical Designer
Update of Rules & Regulations, Lodges, Sports & Leisure, Restaurants & Home Stay by Department of Tourism- Tourism Standards & Regulations & Tour Guiding Skills & Accreditation – by Department of Tourism – Tourism Standards & Regulations, Ms. Arlene Alipio
Ecotourism Interpretation: Preparation & Knowledge Enhancement – by Caloy Libosada, UP AIT Professor
“Water & Energy Management, Renewable Resources Efficiency Training” by Engr. Eric Raymundo, Local Senior Technician Zero Carbon Resorts Project.
A Field Trip – Site inspection of the Coron Tourist Welcome Center was handled to evaluate tourism information needed such as Information Panels & Materials Evaluation, for a proposed Upgrade and Improvement by the TCI to the Coron & Palawan Local Government Unit (LGU).
“Ecological Solid waste management Best Practices Showcase” – by Bago City, Mr. Jurie Vic Mesias, ENRO Officer of Bago City, Negros Occidental
“Sustainable Dining- Locavores” – Buy local, Support Local – by Chit Juan, CEO Echo Sustainable Store
Workshops were divided into two groups:
1. Green Hotels & Eco Lodges Best Practices group – inspected and evaluated Coron Westown Resort based on Green Hotels survey form and Zero Carbon Resorts evaluation.
2. Eco Guiding & Interpretation/Responsible Tourism group – the group discussed their issues and concerns on the training, classification and accreditation of guides and standards, rules and procedures of the eco excursions of Coron tours and attractions.
